Cut it Up Challenge #18 - Mother's Day

Happy Friday my friends. Thanks for stopping by my blog for another Cut it up Blop Challenge.

Cut it up Challenge #18 - Create a project for Mother's Day.

My Mom loves birds so to make something completely different for her other than a card, which I already have made, I decided to make a home decor project.

I saw a cute little wooden owl decoration in a craft store this week and my inspiration grew from there.

She is made of chip board and card stock and a little bit of floral wire for her feet.

Here's how I did it:
Hoot n' Holler cart
Owl cut at 10 1/4" - first on chipboard then from Black Recollections CS.
Shift layer was cut 3 times, 1-pink, 1-orange, and 1-yellow.
Layer cut 2 times, first in green then in yellow

Doodle Charms cart
Flower on pg 91 cut at 3" - pink and blue
I used a left over circle from the owl eye as the yellow dot on the blue part of the flower.

I used perfect pearls in black for the eyes and dots between the feathers on her belly.
I used perfect pearls in ice white for the dots on the beak and the yellow eye. I traced around those dots with my black zig pen.

I used the black zig pen and the white gelly roll pen on the flower.

I made the owl's feet using brown floral wire and use a left over piece for the flower stem. I hot glued these on to my owl.

For the center of the owl's eyes I use some black oval beads and hot glued them into place.

Yes she really does stand up and I know my Mom is going to love her.

Hop on by the Cut It Up Blog to see more inspiring projects today

Thanks for stopping by.

My very first Gypsy Card

I did, I did! Well thanks to Sheila of She's a Sassy Lady.

I saw her post and went over to check out her project. She has a tutorial to walk you through the steps of making her A2 wide Owl Card. I swear after watching her tutorial the light bulb went off in my head (oh that's what the gypsy is for...) Hehehe.

I just want to say thanks again to Sheila for sharing your tutorial. It really helped me to realize that there was no need to keep my poor gypsy tucked away in a cubbyhole on my desk. The ol' girl was glad to help me out when I turned her on and started following along with Sheila.

I adjusted the card a bit from Sheila's instructions by cutting out the second layer and attaching it to the card base. On Sheila's she has her owl hanging off the front of the card, you'll have to go see her so this will make more sense to you.

This was a fun card to make for my very first gypsy project and I must say that I'm rather pleased. What do you think?

For instruction on this great card hop on over to Sheila of She's a Sassy Lady.

Here's what I used:
Really Rust SU card stock
g.c.d. Autumn Afternoon two sided card stock as background
All other card stock from my scraps
Google eyes from HL
Buttons and Ribbon from my stash - after gluing the ribbon to the front of my card I cut off the small piece that hung over and instead of trashing it, I stuck it on my tag!
Hampton Art Who Loves You clear stamp set
SU close to cocoa ink spot

Thanks for leaving me some love. I always enjoy reading your thoughtful comments. Have a wonderful Sunday.

Simply Sunday Challenge: For the Birds...His Eye is on the Sparrow

I saw the Simply Sunday Challenge from Getting Cricky at my SOL blog Disney Dreamer Designs and I had to join in on the fun.

The owl is cut at 3" from the Hoot n' Holler Lite cart. I used cardstock from American Traditional Designs for my owl. The blue paper behind my owl is SEI and the patterned paper is from the Material Girl & Garden Variety Double Deck from Cosmo Cricket. The sentiment is from The Paper Studio Greetings Clear stamp set. The ribbon was from my stash.

Birthday Card

I made this card for my Mom since she loves birds. I cut the owl from the Hoot 'n' Holler Lite cart. I used cosmo cricket cardstock for the background and the trim. The rest of the paper and the bling is from my stash. The Who's having a birthday stamp is from the Who Loves You clear stamp set by Hampton Art.
