Cut it Up Challenge #25 - What's Bugging You?

Happy Friday my little hopper's.

It's time for another Cut It Up Challenge. Challenge #25 - What's Bugging You? Today we were asked to make a project using a bug. Well how fun is that? I think it's super duper fun!

Since my nephew's B-day is right around the corner; well October, but to me it's right around the corner since it seems that this year has been flying by, I made him a B-day card for this buggy challenge.

I decided to use Flick as my bug. Remember him from a Bug's Life? I cut him out right away and laid him down on my table so I could decide just what I wanted to do with him. I searched though my stamps and came across the "bring on the cake" sentiment and knew exactly what I wanted to do by looking at Flick with his hands on his hips.

Here's what I came up with:

Isn't he cute? I thought it would be fun to make it look like he climbed up the cake and got rid of the candles so he could just eat the cake without all the Birthday fuss. :)

Here's how I did it:

Cricut Carts:
Best of Pixar - Flick cut at 4"
Birthday Bash - Cake cut twice at 3 3/4"
Candle cut at 1 1/2"

Cardstock:
Recollections - I used up some of my scrap recollections paper for all die cut images.
Card size: 5 1/2 x 4 1/4
Mat size: 5 1/4 x 4 both outside and inside matts

Gelly Roll pen in white - used to color Swiss Dots on top cake.
Zig Pen in Black - used to doodle on Flick and the tag.
Cuttlebug Folder in Swiss dots - used to emboss layers on top cake.
Foam tape - used to pop the top cake and hand made tag
Recollections Ink - Blk
Studio g stamp - Bring on the Cake and Happy Birthday on inside of card.

Tuesday, Jan. 22nd - MCCR Kids Valentine Cards

Hello! I'm so glad you stopped by today because I have a totally cool V-day card to share with you.

Instead of the traditional reds and pinks, I went with light blue and green for my background card. Why you ask? Because this card is for a boy!! To keep this super simple I cut a double-sided sheet of CS from K&Company to 5 x 7 then I folded it in half. Because this was double-sided, the inside was way too busy and girly for my liking so I cut white CS the same size and glued it to the inside of my card. Then I added my stamped sentiment.

For the character on my card I chose the only one I thought would suit it well and that was CRUSH! I love Finding Nemo and Crush is one of my favorite characters. I cut him out at 3" using the Best of Pixar cart. Crush was cut using all my recollection scraps from my bin and I added a few doodles. TaDa!!!

Hope this gave you a little inspiration for a boy's Valentine's Day card.

You can also enter to win the Grand Prize of the Gypsy by finding the two blogs that have a Hidden Mickey (see details at the end of my post).

I am so excited to be participating in my very first blog hop! A BIG thank you goes out to Shawn and co-host Melissa for giving me the opportunity to participate in this wonderful hop. For the second time we come together to celebrate our love of all things Disney, which includes the Pixar family of characters.

My projects today showcase both Disney Classics and the Best of Pixar.
So first up is the Disney Classics. I really wanted to make the Cheshire cat from this cart so I decided to put him on a card.

I wanted to use the classic Disney colors so I made him red and black. Hope you like it.

Recipe:
Cheshire cat cut at 4" with the paper company cardstock
Patterened paper from DCWV Summer Dream Stack
Cuttlebug folder - Divine Swirls
Stamp from My Pink Stamper More Punny-licous
Ribbon from Michaels

Next up is The Best of Pixar cartridge.
For those of you who are already followers of my blog you get to see another version of my basket using the Best of Pixar theme.

I made the Basket first then I choose to decorate it with the Monsters, Inc. characters. I'm very pleased with how this turned out so I have several pictures to show you all the sides.

Recipe:
To make this a little challenging for myself I decided to flock Sulley after cutting him out at 3 ¼”.
Mike and Boo are cut at 3 ¼” too. I added some silver scales to Boo’s outfit using a Martha Stewart glitter marker since the piece of paper were just too darn small to work with.
Roz was cut out at 3 ½” then I added sparkles to her chain on her glasses and her blue hair.

The Paper Company Cardstock was used for characters and base of basket.
Patterned Cardstock used:
Nana’s Nursery – Baby Boy
DCWV – The Fun in the Sun Summer Glitter Stack
My Mind’s Eye – Deena’s Penny Lane Glitter Cardstock

Cuttle Bug Folders:
Spots and Dots
Tiny Mosaic Texture

Glitter Gel Roll Pen
Tim Holtz Distressing Ink – Broken China, Bundled Sage, and Milled Lavender.
Foam tape
Inkadinkado – black chalk ink
Recollections – My Little Monsters clear stamp set

CANDY ALERT!
Before you go, I want to thank you for coming to the blog hop by offering you a chance to win some candy.
