Disney Pixar Blog Hop - Day Two Jan. 20th

Welcome to the official Disney Pixar Blog Hop - DAY TWO!!!!

Update: I will announce the winner of my blog candy on Wednesday, January 23rd.

I just love these hops and we couldn't have picked a better time to bring in the new year than to have our favorite hop to share some new projects and inspiration for all the Disney fans out there.

If you've come from Kathy's blog then you're in the right place. If you just hopped into my blog, well thanks for stopping by; here's the link to Shawn's Blog to start at the beginning.

For my project today I was feeling patriotic and no one in my mind represents that better than MICKEY MOUSE!!!

I knew I wanted to make a treat holder so I did some looking around for one that would show case Mickey. I came across the Flat backed treat box by Patti Gilliam and knew this was the perfect choice for my project today. You can find her tutorial for this treat box here.

After assembling my treat box, it was time to decorate. I flipped through the Mickey and Friends book and decided to use the Mickey on pg. 79. I cut him out at 3", then I flipped to pg. 108 and cut my star at 2".

I used Canvas home basics ~Americana CS for my box. To decorate the flap I cut my CS at 3 x 4 then cut a square at 1 1/4 x 1 1/2 to create my flag. I inked the edges then adhered it to the back of the box. I used three layers of foam tape to pop Mickey up off the background, (great little tip from Patti). The sentiment on my Star is from CTMH ~American Celebration stamp set. The Flag came from Jadded Blossoms ~Flag dies. I typed up the "Happy 4th of July" sentiment and printed it on the same CS then used the flag die to cut out my tag. The button and twine is from my scrap stash.
Here's the finished project!

Thanks for stopping by today. Your next stop is Claire.
