Wednesday, Jan. 30th - Out with the Old

Happy Wednesday my friends, for my design team post today on My Cricut Craft Room I made a New Year party decoration. To me nothing says out with the old better than the New Year.

Part of my "out with the old"  this year was to slowly remove the clutter from my house. Give things to charity that I have not used since I moved in and only keep things that I know I will re-use this year, other wise I have to recycle it or give it away. So far I've been keeping my own promise on this one and I must say it feels great to down size.

For my project, I wanted to make my first ever party hat, so I dug out my Life's a Party cart. I used the fit to page feature on my cricut and cut the hat on pg. 56 at 8 1/4". I used Recollections ~ Regent Street CS for my hat. Since I don't have tinsel garland in my Christmas supplies I made my own pom pom using some silver ribbon.

To create the two tags, I used Word, the shape feature and my printer. I stamped my clock on the same parchment CS and fussy cut around that and the clock hand and then used my MS silver marker for a little bling. To make my flower I used a few pages from an old book, my scallop punch, and some Tim Holtz Wild Honey distressing ink. I punched a hole in the center of the scallops and added a brad to hold all the layers together. I carefully scrunched up the paper then unfolded it and added a little silver stickles to the edges of the petals. The ribbon, brads, beads and stars are all from my scrap stash. I used my hot glue gun to glue most of the pieces on to the hat and a few glue dots on the ribbon. To hold the hat together I used some red line tape.

Here's the finished project! I love how this turned out.

Thanks for stopping by.
